Plumia Connect

Where the world's smartest minds and boldest thinkers meet to shape the future of global mobility.
Plumia Connect

Essaouira, Morocco | May 6-7, 2026

Plumia Connect is where policymakers, researchers, founders, and investors come together to shape the future of global mobility. This isn’t your typical conference—it’s a working summit designed to drive real progress on digital nomad policy, remote work infrastructure, and cross-border collaboration.

Set in the historic city of Essaouira, Morocco, the summit builds on the region’s legacy as a global crossroads, where trade, ideas, and cultures have converged for centuries. Today, it’s a space for sharing knowledge, building relationships, and taking action on the biggest questions shaping the future of global movement.

What Makes This Summit Different?

"It's a purposeful gathering of bright minds working towards a common future (as opposed to a nomad fest where half the speakers are on stage selling themselves and their services). It really is a great event!"
Dr. Kaisu Koskela

Plumia Connect is a curated, high-level gathering designed to foster meaningful conversations about the future of global mobility. Unlike larger, more general conferences, this is an invitation-only event, ensuring that every participant brings valuable insight and expertise to the table. The focus isn’t just on big ideas—it’s about engaging with the people shaping policy, research, and innovation in this space.

What also sets this summit apart is its location and atmosphere. Held in Essaouira, a city with a deep history as a meeting point of cultures, the event blends thought leadership with cultural exchange. Beyond the formal sessions—panels, fireside chats, and keynotes—attendees have the chance to connect over shared meals, explore the city’s creative and historical spaces, and take part in carefully curated experiences that bring the conversations to life in a unique way.

Coming Soon 2026 themes

We're currently working on finalising themes for 2026. In the meantime, here's a look at what we covered in 2025:

🔬 Research & Empiricism
We explored the state of the digital nomad movement through rigorous research and first-hand insight. Anthropologists, sociologists, and leading thinkers shared data-driven reflections on the lived realities of remote work, migration patterns, and location independence.

🏛 Magnet Nations & Global Mobility
From Estonia to Malaysia, government leaders and legal experts unpacked how policy innovation is shaping the next generation of borderless citizens. The spotlight was on Digital Nomad Visas, nation branding, and what it takes to become a magnet for global talent.

🌐 Nomad as Brand, Nomad as Business
Founders and operators shared how they’ve built meaningful, scalable ventures from anywhere. These sessions covered personal branding, monetization strategies, and designing businesses that align with freedom and flexibility.

🏙 Habitatification: Building Places for Nomads
We examined the role of placemaking, infrastructure, and urban design in supporting nomad-native communities. This session delved into how physical environments can better reflect the fluid, intentional lifestyles of the globally mobile.

💼 Designing for Mobility
A panel of community leaders and operators discussed what it means to design systems, platforms, and policies that serve mobile professionals—from coliving and coworking to global payroll and reservation infrastructure.

🌊 Sustainability in Action
We took it offline with a beach clean-up and awareness session at Sidi Kaouki in collaboration with Surfrider Foundation Morocco. Participants engaged in environmental reflection and joined a global movement to protect our oceans.

🎨 Identity, Creativity & Afropolitanism
Through storytelling and cultural critique, we reflected on complex, multi-rooted identities. With voices like Taiye Selasi, we discussed belonging, multiplicity, and the role of the artist in global citizenship.

🚀 Skills for the Future of Work
Workshops and keynotes offered hands-on learning in topics like applied research, product development, and future-of-work competencies. Sessions were designed to help attendees level up in both vision and execution.
