You’ll live alongside the Plumia team and other Borderless readers in a real-world experiment at the edge of systems, stories, and landscapes. Expect beautiful hikes, impromptu talks, fiction workshops, policy salons, family-style dinners, and bold conversations under the stars.

🧭 Background
- Plumia is a policy and media think tank exploring the future of citizenship with a focus on experimental migration.
- SafetyWing is a technology company (YC 2018) launching a new product, Nomad Citizen, this summer, offering a social safety net (health insurance, travel insurance, income protection) that works across borders and visa assistance through a friendly digital interface.
- Edge City is a society incubator and operator of pop-up villages interested in the future of citizenship, passport privilege and experimental migration, especially because their global attendees are often limited by visas.
- Seapunk Studios is a research-and-imagination collective and community interested in solarpunk imaginaries for Southeast Asia, inspired by the region’s historical open common sea and the emergent thriving decentralised ‘punk’ worlds it fostered.
🌍 What
- An immersive residency bringing together thinkers and builders to prototype the future of citizenship and borders, and develop ideas and collaborations to improve migration policy.
- Through fiction workshops, shared meals, conversations, panels, a week-long sprint to produce a white paper and a 2-day mini summit, we’ll interrogate and imagine new frameworks for affiliation beyond the nation-state.
Don't forget to use the code PLUMIA20 for a discount. When you're done, head here to apply to attend the Plumia residency.
