Trust and Privacy

A statement of respect, from one human to another.

Let’s be honest here.

We’re going to infringe on your privacy—a little.

When you visit our website, open our emails, attend our events, or engage with our tools, we collect some data—things like what you clicked on, where you’re accessing from, and how you interact. This helps us understand what matters to you, improve what we’re building, and create a better experience overall.

Take the Borderless newsletter, for example. When you open, click, or reply to an email, we track that. Not to stalk you, but to figure out what’s resonating so we can send more of what’s useful and less of what’s not. We use digital tools to do this, but the judgement behind the scenes is always human.

We’re not here to mine your data or manipulate you. We’re real people—sometimes assisted by digital systems, always guided by human judgment. You’re not just a data point; you’re part of a community of global citizens.

You have to trust us, and we have to give you a reason to.

Here’s what you get in exchange

  • Relevance – emails that evolve based on what you engage with.
  • Transparency – we’ll always tell you what we’re tracking and why.
  • Control – you can unsubscribe at any time or request deletion of your data.
  • Respect – we’ll never sell your data or share it with third parties without your consent.

How we handle data

  • We store personal data securely and only for as long as necessary.
  • We may use trusted third-party services to help us run Plumia—email and event platforms, analytics tools, event infrastructure, payment processors, etc.
  • We may share data with partners when needed to deliver services, improve your experience, or collaborate on shared projects. When we do, it’s governed by clear contracts and compliant with all relevant data protection laws in the jurisdictions where you and our partners are based.
  • Our readers, members, and collaborators are global, so we follow international data protection standards, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws.

Your rights

  • You can access, correct, or delete your personal information.
  • You can object to certain types of processing.
  • You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • You can contact us at policy@plumia.org with any questions, requests, or concerns.

TL;DR

We collect data to make Plumia better. We use it thoughtfully. We don’t sell it. And if you ever want to know more, we’ll talk to you like a human.
